The Difference Between Classic, Hybrid and Volume
What’s the difference between classic, hybrid, and volume lash extensions?”
This has got to be one of the most frequently asked questions I receive as a lash artist.
But guess what? That’s okay! At one point or another all of us probably didn’t know the difference between these different styles of lash extensions.
Let me shed some light on each style so you can make the most informed choice when for scheduling your next appointment.

Classic:
Classic lash extensions are the art of placing one lash extension onto one natural eyelash. Classic lashes are only meant to provide length and shape, not fullness or added fluff. Most people wear classic lashes because they want to achieve a natural lash look that is often mistaken for having AH-MAZING natural eyelashes.
I tell my clients if they want to achieve a “no-extensions-extensions-look” then classics are the style for them!
Many people start out with classic lashes if they have never had extensions before.
Hybrid:
Hybrid lash extensions are exactly how they sound. A mix (or hybrid) of two styles. More specifically, hybrid lash extensions are a blend of classic lashes and volume lashes.
This style is perfect for people who want a more fuller look than classics, but aren’t completely sold on the bold and dark look of volume lash extensions. In my opinion, there is no perfect ratio of hybrid lashes.
Once all of the volume fans are placed evenly across the lash line, I then finish off by strategically placing different diameters of classic lashes throughout to finish the look. Application take 1 hour to apply with our qualified lash artist.
NOTE* lots of clients don't care for this look as when the classic lashes fall out they seem to have more of a gap as the volume fans are fluffed out and cover more area.
Volume:
Volume will give you a thicker, fluffy lash look! A volume fan consists of 3 to 6 extension on one natural lash, volume lashes wrap around the natural lash giving your natural lash support on all side of the NL(natural lash). Our qualified Lash Artist number one priority is to always make sure your natural lashes get the applications where they will stay healthy. Volume is great for a natural look or a more fuller darker dramatic look.
If you see 3D, 4D, 6D, etc… the number stands for how many lash extensions are in the fan, and the D stands for how dimensional the volume fan is! Generally the diameter (how thick) the individual lash extensions are can range from 0.03 - 0.07 mm. This is waaaay thinner than one of your own natural lashes!
Lighter than a feather, lusciously fluffy and fairy floss soft, Mega Volume uses larger volume fans and finer lashes to create maximum lash density while maintaining a more natural look than is possible with Russian Volume lash extensions. Lash Tonic’s Mega Volume set features beautiful fluffy fans, handmade from our almost weightless 0.03mm lashes using our Signature ‘Bouquet’ technique, making them far lighter and more comfortable to wear on your natural lashes than a Russian Volume set. And more adhesion points means more flexibility and superior retention resulting in longer lasting lashes for you.
The Mega Volume technique uses fans comprised of between 7-20 ultra-fine lash extensions, and requires application to a maximum of 80% of your natural lashes that can support an extension, making it easy for us to fulfill our ‘density without damage’ promise and delivering full, intensely black lashes you’ll fall in love with. Your initial application will take between 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on how many natural lashes you have that are able to handle an extension
Lash Strip spike look
If you have a passion for fuller-than-full lashes and thought that strip lashes were the only way to have them, then lash strip spike look is going to steal your heart.

Other policy

We love children, but unfortunately, our studio is not a safe place for them to play – therefore we have a ‘no kids’ policy in force for their safety, as we do not have a crèche facility. Please organise your lash appointment around childcare arrangements.

We also do not apply lashes on people who are under the age of 18 years old without a guardian consent and they must fill out a consent form and sign the form.

Due to the extensive range of styles and techniques among lash artists, we will not lash over another artist’s work. You will need to arrange removal of your existing extensions so that we can start creating your luscious new look with a totally clean slate.
How infills work

An infill appointment is about so much more than just applying new lashes!

The longer you leave between fills, the more complicated the process becomes – and as strange as it sounds, coming in for more frequent fills might actually be a more cost effective way of maintaining amazing looking lashes.

Here’s how a fill works:

Everyone experiences lash drop between appointments – once your lashes reach a certain point in their life cycle, they fall out, making way for new growth. The rate at which this happens also varies. Have you ever woken up one morning and found that your lashes look much thinner than they did the night before, or that you have a huge gap in your natural lashes? It’s perfectly normal, and something that we all experience. It does, however, look a lot more dramatic when you have big, fluffy mega volume lash extensions on!

The other thing that happens is that your lashes get a lot longer as they age – we only ever apply lash extensions to ‘teenage’ lashes that are about halfway through their growth cycle. These lashes are strong enough to take an extension (unlike a baby lash) but still have a lot of growing to do before they’re ready to fall out. Unfortunately, these lashes don’t always grow straight so you may find that some fans get a bit wonky as the lash they’re attached to gets longer.

At each infill, your lash artist needs to identify which existing extensions need to be removed because the natural lash has grown crooked or because the extension is sitting more than 2mm from your lash line. They then need to remove those extensions without causing damage to the natural lash, which is a delicate process as you can imagine!

After that, they need to reassess your lash line so that they can recreate the beauty and balance of your extensions and work to fill in the gaps, while blending the old extensions with the new. Sometimes this isn’t as easy as it sounds if there are no lashes in a gap that are able to handle taking an extension.

So, it’s easy to see why coming in more often for fills makes it easier and faster for your artist to recreate beautifully balanced, luscious lashes for you!

NOTE You must have 40% of your extension left on to be considered a fill.

Please ensure you attend your appointment with a CLEAN, makeup-free lash line – while our artist will prep your lashes before your appointment, if more extensive cleaning of your lashes is required, it will impact your appointment time.

When you book your appointment you will see our full cancellation policy – please read it carefully as we adhere to it very strictly.

Our Lash Artist’s time is limited and incredibly valuable. We ask that you respect her time as much as we respect yours.

Bookings may be rescheduled up to 48 hours prior to your appointment.

Cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment time will incur a charge of 50% of your appointment cost.
